We're very excited about the prospects for our Facebook application. But we want to make sure it's just exactly perfect before letting it loose on the world.

What is it?

The GridRepublic Facebook application allows users to join and manage projects from inside Facebook. It also allows you to share your stats with your friends.

How to participate in testing

  1. You'll need a "fake" Facebook account. This will require that you have an extra email account which is not already associated with an existing Facebook account, and which you'll never in the future want to associate with a "real" Facebook account.
    1. If you don't have an extra email account, you can create one here:
      1. Gmail
      2. Yahoo
      3. Windows Live/Hotmail
    2. Then create a Facebook account using this email.
  2. Login to your new Facebook account, and add the user "Bob Bernstein" as a friend:
    1. The first time you login, you will be presented with a few initial questions, which are intended to populate your profile: you can skip these (there is a "skip" button for each).
    2. In the blue Facebook menbar, click "Friends", then "Find Friends" in the resulting dropdown.
    3. On the resulting page ("Find people you know"), scroll down till you see the "Search for People" box.
    4. Enter the address bb{at}gridrepublic.likemind-sites.com and then click the "search" button. (this is Bob's email.)
    5. The search results page should show you a short version of Bob's profile: click "Add as Friend".
  3. At this point, you'll need to wait for Bob to accept your invitation.
  4. Further instructions will be sent via Facebook.
  5. NOTE: just a reminder, please do not test with your real Facebook account. Among other things, we will ask you to become "friends" with several other test users who are also fake. Also, we don't want to release the application by mistake until it is tested.
