Local Activism

Help to spread the word in your school or community -- here are some ideas of things to do. Of course, let's discuss and feel free to add to these pages.

Get friends online

Of course, this might be the simplest thing -- just tell people about GridRepublic, and encourage them to join here on the GridRepublic website or via Facebook through our application. They can also become our fan on Facebook to help spread the word.

Get school/office/group machines running GridRepublic

See if you can get your school or office or maybe particular departments to install GridRepublic on their computers. If you want a script to do batch installations over a network please contact us. (Please be sure you have permission to install on any machine you might add, or we're all in for a world of trouble.)

If you do pull of an installation, be sure to contact the local media -- your story might inspire others.

Print and distribute posters and flyers

Some users have donated artwork for posters and flyers: download, print, and post around town and/or campus.

School media

Solicit coverage in the school website, paper, radio & TV stations/streams. A great way to do this might be a party or fundraiser (see below).

Parties

Throw parties to raise awareness and funds. For instance: know a good local band? Throw a fundraising concert. Parties might also be a good way to get coverage in the school and local media.
