Merge or Remove Computer Listings

There are two primary reasons why you might want to remove or merge records of computers listed in your account: (1) if your account is mistakenly showing duplicate listings, or (2) if one of your computers is no longer active.

Managing Duplicate Listings

There are a few situations which might cause your GridRepublic account to show duplicate listings for a single physical computer. The most common reason would be if you were to completely uninstall the desktop software and then re-install it. GridRepublic -- and all your projects -- have no way to match the new installation to the original one, and will assume the new installation is a new computer. ("Upgrade" installs, ie an install without an uninstall, should not cause such problems.)

Unfortunately, there is not at present a "merge" function at GridRepublic. So at the moment, this has to be done at the project website for each of your projects (i.e. not at GridRepublic). When you've merged at the websites for ALL your projects, the listings will be correctly represented at GridRepublic.

How to merge listings at a project server

  • go to the project website (details on the GR "Projects" pages)
  • login with your email + password
  • in the row "computers on this account", click "view"
  • click a computer ID (one which you think is a duplicate)
  • at bottom click "merge"
