Introduction While larger animation firms like Pixar and Dreamworks have massive computers to speed up the process of creating and animating 3D images, independent artists rarely have access to the same tools. Open Rendering Environment (ORE) helps level the playing field, allowing artists with smaller budgets to add digital muscle to their work, too. By sharing the intense burden of 3D rendering, volunteers help slash the processing time for complex jobs from several months to a few days. This huge boost in productivity means that more people can enter, and begin to transform, the realm of modern animated filmmaking. Start date: ?
