Need help, trying to set up all 3 computers to Progress thru Processors with Facebook

I was unable to find the login info for the 2nd and 3rd computer, for some reason I can't connect to facebook from those computers, even though I have no problem accessing other websites on those computers.  I am wanting to add all 3 computers to the same account.

I've searched everywhere but cannot find the real login/password that i used to connect my main computer through Progress Thru  Processors Desktop.  It was given to me by logging into facebook the first time and I just copy/pasted then x'd it out.  I supposed I could re-install on main computer, and make sure to save the login elsewhere.  Is there another way to do this?  I'm very computer savy and keep all my computer hardware up to date.  Oh and two are 64 bit computers, one is 32 bit., all with Windows XP Professional.

Hello Bob glad to hear of such enthusiasm about volunteer computing.

If I understand correctly you are looking to add a 2nd and 3rd computer to your current PTP account.  These other computers have Internet connection at least some of the time and are able to surf the other websites, but are unable to access Facebook.com so you cannot login and download the application?

If you do not have the installer for PTP:

  1. On the machine which can      access Facebook login to Facebook
  2. go to the PTP application
  3. select dashboard
  4. select add computer
  5. download the application and      save it to a flash drive or other way you can brig it to the other two      computers.

If you do not know your password and email.

* login to FB

 * go to http://apps.facebook.com/processors/credentials.php

 * copy the email and password shown there
     (note: this is not your actual password, but it works to attach)

I hope what I have provided helps.  If you have any problems  or this does not solve the issue post back.

Ok I was able to use that login/password but wasn't able to connect.  Both computers have internet access always, its a broadband connection.  The problem before was that facebook doesn't allow logins from multiple computers.

Here are the messages I get when trying to connect:

If I can get the 2nd and 3rd computer running on this, I'll dedicate all the memory and resources to this, since I rarely use those computers.  My main computer will do this when I'm not using it so much.

I have tried just using BOINC Account manager on all 3 computers, the main connected without any problems, but the 2nd and 3rd computer ran into the same HTTP internal server error.  I had both of them "waiting to contact Project servers" all night long, and it was never successful.

hi bob.

before weighing in here, i want to be sure i understand the situation.

{1} you joined PTP on facebook, created an account, and attached a computer.  looks like the only project you joined was rosetta.

{2} you want to add other computers, but are running into trouble because you can't login to facebook on these other machines, though you can access other websites.

{3} eventually, you installed a generic BOINC client on your additional machines

now, couple questions:

{a} when you installed BOINC, did you use the "attach to account manager" function, and attach these to www.gridrepublic.org, providing in the "attach" wizard the information you recovered at the credentials.php page?

and a suggestion:

{b} you might want to add another project, to see if the error you are encountering is project-specific, as i believe it is.  (but this will be useful to confirm.).  if you successfully completed "a" above, then you can add the project via PTP or directly at GR, and the new project will be picked up on all your computers.  then wait a bit and see if you are getting the same HTTP error from the new project, too.

At first I tried PhP on all 3 computers, but I wasn't able to get it working on the 2nd and 3rd computer.  Then I installed BOINC on all 3 computers and couldn't connec, so then I went to gridrepublic, registered a new account (login: bobmwade@gmail.com), added a total of 5 projects, and used the add a computer tab and put the GridRepublic 5.10.30 for Microsoft Windows on all the computers.  The 2nd and 3rd computer was unable to connect, I got the same error as when I tried the other two.  I checked out the forums, and that is what was suggested to do.

After the benchmark tests run it told me to upgrade the BOINC to 6.6.3 which I did.  This changes the actual account manager I'm using to BOINC, I tried that and got the HTTP internal error, then installed the Gridrepublic back on top of it, I'm assuming Gridrepublic works off the BOINC.    It then downloads the Master file, and sends out a scheduler request for Project Initialization, but always comes back as "scheduler request failed:  HTTP internal server error" after a few times I'll get "scheduler request failed: server returned nothing (no headers,no data)" or Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site" but then immediately get "Access to reference site succeeded - project servers may be temporarily down"  of course I'm attempting to do 5 projects right now too.  Still, my main computer doesn't have any of these problems.  All 3 computers are connected to a broadband connection through a network hub supplied by my DSL company (AT&T).  They are all 3 connected to the same DSL input.

I am 100% certain that those other two computer do not have any problem connecting to the internet because in the past I've used all 3 at the same time while gaming, and never had a disconnect problem, I also used to use the main and secondary computer simultaneously to watch movies and surf the net at the same time, since both are hooked up to very large LCD tv's.  I've tried everything that I could think of including disabling the windows firewall on all 3 computers, and making sure that each computer had the exact same connection settings.

If it would help I wouldn't have a problem allowing a remote connection to each computer.  Usually I use teamviewer to connect to the computers of family and friends to fix their computers.  It is free and very easy to use.
