i'm not sure if i understand you. but let me try --
When you are using gridrepublic to manage your accounts, certain controls in the desktop application are disabled. the idea is that these functions are to be controlled via the gridrepublic user interface. so, for instance, you cannot remove projects at the desktop application if you are using gridrepublic: the idea is to remove them via the website.
however, there are certain things you can do in the desktop application to "override" the web settings on an individual computer. for instance you can "suspend" a project (advanced view, under the "projects" tab). i think this will have the effect you seek.
please let me know if i am misunderstanding you; or let me know if this does or does not solve your problem.

I tried the option 'Anhalten' in the German BOINC version, and of course 'Keine neuen Aufgaben zulassen'. This did not solve the problem. The only solution would be that I cancel this project totally and then I would loose my credits earnde up to now.

Why does the account manager ask the sceduler every hou and what can I do to stop it ? Its only annoyingh, not an important inconvenience.

Matt, do you know of some reason the scheduler would continue to check with the project even if you don't want any more tasks? I'm guessing there is some purpose to it, but I agree with Joachim that it is strange.
I'd guess the only thing we could do on our end is add some sort of "Stop" option to projects as an alternative to "Remove".
Well it is by design that the desktop app contacts the gridrepublic website at regular intervals (hourly, i think). this is how the desktop app learns of any changes to the user's list of projects or preferences. this is a security feature: neither the GR website nor projects can ever contact the user's computer: the user's computer must always intiate communications.
having said that, i'm not sure why each contact with GR initiates a scheduler request with the project. this may be a peculiar result which happens only when there is no work at the desktop for a listed project. and it may simply be that rosetta is out of work for machines of your description.
I set my options for Rosetta now to accept new work and I got 1 new workunit for 17hours CPU time. Lets have a look what happens after this WU is crunched.
I would prefer an option of Grid Republic to set a project in a detached state without loosing the already evaluated bonus points.

i'm pretty sure that if you "remove" a project at the GR website, your credits will be preserved: they will still be shown in your account at GR and at the project website and at most 3rd party stats sites.
if you later re-add the project via the GR website, your continued contributions will be credited to your original account, ie, your totals will continue from where you left off. (unless you change your email address in between).
Matt, I have the same annoying problem with Einstein@home as Joachim has with Rosetta. As for your suggestions concerning the reasons this happens is concerned:

the answers are no and no. It would be nice and much appreciated if you would eliminate this unnecesary idiosyncracy from your software.
